Hot and sour soup is a good remedy for colds. This recipe has a preparation time of 30 minutes and a cooking time of 15 minutes. It can easily serve 4 persons.

- Bamboo Shoots … ½ Cup
- Mushrooms … ½ Cup
- Water … 1 Litre
- Salt … 1 tsp
- Sugar … 1 tsp
- Soya Sauce … 2 tbsp
- Vinegar … 2 tbsp
- Sesame Oil … 1 tbsp
- Corn Flour Dissolved in ¼ Cup Water … 1 tbsp
- Spring Onion, Finely Chopped … 1
- Egg, Beaten … 1
- White Pepper … 1 tbsp
- Hot Chilli Oil … To Taste
- Chicken Cubes … 2

Hot and Sour Soup Recipe Cooking Steps
Step 1: Marinate chicken along with soya sauce, sesame oil and corn flour for 20 minutes in a bowl.
Step 2: Bring the water to a boil in a pan and toss in the bamboo shoots, mushrooms and the marinated chicken.
Step 3: Add in the salt, sugar, soya sauce and vinegar and sesame oil.
Step 4: Stir in the cornstarch mixture slowly into the soup, stirring while it is being added.
Step 5: Bring the soup to a boil and then slowly drop in the beaten egg. Remember to stir in one direction at the same time.
Step 6: Lastly add the spring onions and white pepper.
Step 7: Drizzle with chili oil if desired.
Serve hot with prawn crackers.
