Hot and Sour Soup Recipe Ingredients

  • Boneless Chicken, Cut into Cubes … 1/2 kg
  • Bamboo Shoots … ½ Cup
  • Mushrooms … ½ Cup
  • Water … 1 Litre
  • Salt … 1 tsp
  • Sugar … 1 tsp
  • Soya Sauce … 2 tbsp
  • Vinegar … 2 tbsp
  • Sesame Oil … 1 tbsp
  • Corn Flour Dissolved in ¼ Cup Water … 1 tbsp
  • Spring Onion, Finely Chopped … 1
  • Egg, Beaten … 1
  • White Pepper … 1 tbsp
  • Hot Chilli Oil … To Taste
  • Chicken Cubes … 2

Ingredients for Chicken Marination

  • 1 tsp soya sauce
  • ½ tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp corn flour

Hot and Sour Soup Recipe Cooking Steps

Step 1: Marinate chicken along with soya sauce, sesame oil and corn flour for 20 minutes in a bowl.

Step 2: Bring the water to a boil in a pan and toss in the bamboo shoots, mushrooms and the marinated chicken.

Step 3: Add in the salt, sugar, soya sauce and vinegar and sesame oil.

Step 4: Stir in the cornstarch mixture slowly into the soup, stirring while it is being added.

Step 5: Bring the soup to a boil and then slowly drop in the beaten egg. Remember to stir in one direction at the same time.

Step 6: Lastly add the spring onions and white pepper.

Step 7: Drizzle with chili oil if desired.

Serve hot with prawn crackers.
